you can doHoney Roasted Sweet Potato, cook them in a sweet potato casserole, slice them thin for sweet potato chips, or just leave them in their jackets and eat them plain.
While some people think they have to wait until the holidays to eat sweet potatoes, you can have them with any meal.
They used to be more seasonal and usually available in the fall. However, most supermarkets now sell them all year round. As such, they're a great choice to accompany any main dish you're serving.
Ingredients for sweet potato patties
You probably have most of these ingredients in your pantry and fridge. Even if you don't have them, they are all readily available items that you can find at any grocery store.

Here are the ingredients you will need to make sweet potato patties:
- 2 medium baked sweet potatoes
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1/4 cup flour (regular or gluten-free)
- 2 teaspoons honey (more if you like it sweeter)
- 1 tsp pumpkin pie spice or ground cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon butter
- puff of salt

You can use olive oil instead of butter, but that will change the taste slightly.
Instead of honey, try brown sugar or maple syrup.

How to make sweet potato patties
First, mash the roasted sweet potatoes in a medium bowl. You can use a potato masher, fork or blender.
I only used one fork this time because that was the closest thing to me at the time.
Second, add the egg, flour, honey, pumpkin pie spice, and salt to the sweet potatoes. Simply pour the sweet potato puree over everything.
Then stir until well combined. Again, you can use whatever you have on hand. I keep stirring with the fork.
Now place the butter in the center of a pan and set the heat to medium-high. Shake the pan until the entire bottom is coated with melted butter.

Stuff the sweet potato mixture into 5 or 6 balls.
You don't have to be perfect. In fact, it's difficult to keep them perfectly shaped when you get to the next step.

Place them in the pan and press down with the back of a spatula until they are about 1/2 inch thick.
If you can't get them flat enough with the spatula, gently press down with your fingertips.

Fry them for about 60 seconds. Turn them over and fry the other side for 60 seconds. They cook quickly, so keep an eye on them.
Finally, take them out of the pan. Serve hot.
You can cover them or leave them plain. I like to put some vanilla yogurt in mine and then add a few walnuts for extra crunch.

Are Sweet Potatoes Good For You?
Sweet potatoes are nutritious and should be included in a healthy diet. According to Cynthia Sass, MPH, RD, in an article onGesundheit.com, are an excellent source of vitamins A and C.
They support the immune system and fight off colds and flu. They are also good for the skin, eyesight and organs.
Because of the high fiber content in sweet potatoes, Sass claims that it's also a slow-burning starch. This means they don't spike your insulin levels, which is especially good for diabetics.
Ways to serve sweet potato patties
As I mentioned before, I like them with yogurt and nuts. You can also sprinkle them with whipped cream, marshmallows, or cinnamon.
I've even been known to eat sweet potatoes for dessert with a scoop of ice cream on top. This is your recipe, so do what makes you and your family happy.
More sweet potato recipes
Sweet potatoes are so versatile, you can enjoy them in a variety of recipes. One of my absolute favorite dishes is a simple baked sweet potato. All you have to do is put the sweet potato in the oven and bake at 350 degrees F until done.
The cooking time can vary from 1 to 3 hours depending on the side of the potato. I can tell by gently squeezing the sides together.
We also enjoyed a good oneSweet Potato Casserole. Some people save this recipe for the holidays but I don't. Actually, I do this all year round. My recipe calls for walnuts, but if I don't have them I'm not worried. It's still good without her.
You can also cut the sweet potatoes into strips and fry them. Or you can cut them larger and make sweet potato wedges.
It's super easy to prepare fries or wedges in the air fryer. All you have to do is spray them with some olive oil, place them in the fryer basket and cook them at 375 degrees F for about 15 minutes.
Because all air fryers are different, you may need to cook them for a shorter or longer time. So test them after about 12 minutes to see if they need to cook longer.
If you want something super delicious and crunchy, make thesesweet potato chips. If you want, you can add other spices beyond the recipe. I baked it, but you can also bake it in the Airfryer.
Mashed sweet potatoes with lots of butter taste wonderful. You can do almost anything with a sweet potato that you can do with a regular potato.
